Dwija Kakkad

I am an incoming PhD student in Statistical Science at Duke University. I completed my undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Scientific Computing with minors in Machine Learning and Philosophy from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and I’m interested in exploring all things statistics. At IITK, I interned at the Decision Lab where I worked on analyzing the effect of acute stress on social decision making via a Penalty Shot game. I also collaborated with Prof. Dootika Vats on Bernoulli factories for Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithms, and I am currently working with her, and Prof. Sakshi Arya on importance sampling kernel density estimation using MCMC samples.
I am an avid reader, and I enjoy travel, swimming, Scrabble, and watching women’s artistic gymnastics.
